Private Advisory · Ontario

When the problem doesn’t fit neatly into one box.

Private strategic advisory for complex decisions, negotiations, and situations — for the moments where you don’t need a neutral in the middle, you need someone on your side who can see the whole board.

The whole situation

Everyone sees their part of the problem. Few see all of it.

Lawyers see legal issues. Accountants see financial ones. Brokers see transactions. Each professional is looking at their particular corner of the problem — and each is right about that corner.

But complex situations rarely live in one corner. There is the legal exposure, yes, but also the money, the timing, the people, the incentives, the relationships, the pressure each side is under, and what tomorrow looks like. Sometimes what you actually need is one person to look at the entire situation, honestly, from outside it — and help you decide what to do.

The common denominator isn’t a personality type. It’s that a real decision is in front of you, the moving parts don’t fit into any single professional’s lane, and getting it wrong is expensive — in money, in relationships, or in what happens next.

How I work

We take the whole thing apart, then decide.

The one rule that matters

Advisor, not neutral.

Mediation
I’m the neutral, on no one’s side, helping two parties reach their own agreement.
Advisory
I’m on your side, helping you think, decide, and move. One point of view: yours.
The firewall

Because those two roles can’t mix, I won’t later mediate a dispute I’ve privately advised one side on, and I won’t privately advise one side to a dispute I’m mediating. Advisory is also not legal advice — if a matter needs legal interpretation, or becomes an actual real estate transaction, I’ll tell you plainly, and it moves to the right professional or through the brokerage.

Engagements

Scoped to the situation, not the clock.

Every engagement begins with a paid strategic assessment — a focused session and a written read of your situation: what actually matters, the real options, and what should happen next. It stands on its own, and it lets us scope anything further accurately.

From there the work is scoped to the complexity of the situation and agreed up front, never billed by the hour. You always know the number before we begin. Assessments from $2,500.
